Would you like to develop new skills, enjoy being part of a team, and help to make a difference to your local community? If so, why not join us as a volunteer? We're looking for people with commitment and a willingness to learn. It can be a great way to meet people, make new friends, and build new skills that can help you find work.
We have a variety of things that you can help us with, including meeting & greeting Centre users and visitors, assisting with admin work in the office, improving the appearance of the Centre, and helping to maintain our gardens (see more, below).
What's more, if you give your time to help us, it can be 'banked' and we will offer you something in return. So, why not become part of our growing team and help serve your community!
If any of this interests you, or you'd simply like to come in for a chat about opportunities, get in touch with the Centre Manager (see our Contacts page for details).
Our community garden
We have green ambitions! There are exciting opportunities to create a welcoming and beautiful garden at the Centre. If well-planned, a community garden can offer people a place to relax, a way to engage with nature, meet others and get active outdoors.
We've been busy clearing some of the more overgrown areas around the Centre, ready for planting. That's where we need your help. We'd like to know what you'd like in the garden, but more importantly, we want you to be involved in the work that's needed to create something really special for all of the community. We'll be organising regular volunteer gardening days, and we'd love you to join us. We'll provide all the tools that you need, and you don't need to be experienced - you can come along and learn new skills.
If you've passed by in recent months, you'll have noticed how far we've come. The front of the garden is now planted up with flowering plants fruit, herbs and vegetables. We've still got work to do along the side of the building, so why not come and join us - either as part of our weekly 'Gardening Club', Wednesdays between 1-3pm; or just drop in to see what needs doing. Plants always need watering!
