Gladstone
Connect's aim is to establish a co-ordinated and integrated approach to
improving the quality of life of local people, by tackling the
deep-rooted problems in Gladstone, such as; poverty, unemployment, lack
of education and skills, lack of financial and business help, poor stock
and a shortage of housing, poor health, lack of facilities and support
for young people and high levels of crime.
To achieve
this, we will:
• promote the participation of local residents within the
regeneration of the area
• run initiatives in our own right. We are, in particular, the lead
body for the local Sure Start initiative for young children and families
in the area
• work with our partners in other statutory, voluntary, community and
private organisations to help ensure their efforts are well co-ordinated
and focused on the real needs of the area.
We are
determined to be fully accountable to the people of Gladstone – directly
and through our partner organisations.
